A victory is so much sweeter when it’s a team victory! This is the culmination of every team practice, when every player feels they made a contribution to the victory. It’s not often that this happens, and it’s a credit to the coaches who are able to integrate every player into a game. It shows that the coaches are paying attention not only to the game, but also to the players’ strengths, efforts, and hopes.
Let’s chalk up a double victory each time the team wins and every player gets into the game! With coaching focused on promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and building on the players’ strengths, the double victory can become a powerful tradition.

I think there should be a law that every child that plays a high school sport should play at least 1/2 the game. Look at the stats for the number of kids that play HS sports and how many of them become a professional athlete. It is statistically insignificant. Yet, because of the desire of the coaches to better their career, this continues. Its sickening and not right. Let them all play and enjoy themselves. It will hopefully make them more well rounded adults someday and they will look back on their HS time as a positive one as it relates to their time playing sports.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. High school sports are the worst thing that ever happened to our family. Our student was left with reduced self-confidence and self-esteem to the point that they never tried for a college team. The school administration will not act against the coaches for fear of bringing the Teachers Union against them for any actions they take. It is a mess!
